What is Remote Desktop Services?

Remote Desktop Services allows computers on a local area network (LAN) to connect to a server (also called a remote computer) and run programs located on the server. This can save organizations time and money because they only need to install programs on a few servers.

Remote Desktop Connection uses Remote Desktop Services technology to allow one computer to remotely control another. Some other features that use Remote Desktop Services technology include RemoteApp, Remote Desktop Web Access, and RemoteApp and Desktop Connections.
