An online ID provider gives you an account for accessing online services, such as e‑mail or instant messaging.
After you download online ID provider software, you can link an online user account to a user account on your computer. Once your online ID and your user account are linked, you can access certain features on your computer over the Internet, such as remote media streaming.
With Windows Live ID Sign-in Assistant 7.0, you can link a Windows Live ID to a Windows 7 user account, making it easier to share files and connect to other computers on a network.
If you don’t see the company that you use for e‑mail or other online services, check back later. Additional online ID providers will be added as they become available. Contact widprov@microsoft.com to learn how to become an online ID provider.
