Get Photo Gallery

If you use Windows 8, you can use Photo Gallery (it's free) to edit your photos. Once you’ve downloaded and installed it, open the Search charm, enter Photo Gallery, and then tap or click Photo Gallery. You can also pin Photo Gallery to Start if you plan on using it a lot.

Note

Here are some of the things you can do using Photo Gallery and your photos:

  • Create a panorama. Next time you’re looking at a beautiful landscape, go ahead and take a series of photos of it. You can shoot pictures horizontally, vertically, or both—just make sure to take all the photos from one vantage point and that each photo slightly overlaps the one before. Then you can quickly stitch them together into a panoramic picture.

    1. Open the Search charm, enter Photo Gallery, and then tap or click Photo Gallery.

    2. Import a series of photos from a single vantage point and select them.

Select the photos for your panorama
    3. On the Create tab, in the Tools group, tap or click Panorama. Photo Gallery will stitch the photos together for you.

To crop out any uneven edges of your panorama, use the crop tool. Here's how:

    1. On the Edit tab, in the Adjustments group, tap or click Crop, and then move the cropping guides to create the composition you’re after.

    2. Tap or click Crop again to finish cropping your photo.

      Crop a panorama
    3. Tap or click Close file.

Your new panaorama will be automatically saved and ready to share.

  • Fix group shots with Photo Fuse. A goofy face. Closed eyes. Or simply someone’s just not looking their best. The next time you’re taking a group shot, just shoot a few extra pictures from the same vantage point. Then you can combine the best parts of several photos into the perfect group picture.

    2. Select the photos that you want to fuse together.

    3. On the Create tab, in the Tools group, tap or click Photo Fuse.

    4. Adjust the guides on one of the photos to select the section you’d like to replace, and then click the section of the similar photo that you want to replace in the first photo. If you like the result, tap or click Save.

  • Order prints. When you want a hard copy of a special photo, you can order prints directly from Photo Gallery (ordering prints might not be available in all regions). Here's how:

    1. Select the photo or photos you want to print.

    2. Tap or click the Create tab.

    3. Tap or click Order prints and then follow the on-screen instructions.
