You can use Media Center without an Internet connection, but many features won't work as well, and some won't work at all. Here are some of the ways you can use your computer's Internet connection within Media Center:
To automatically download Guide listings. If you use Media Center to watch or record live TV, Media Center will automatically keep your Guide listings up to date. For more information, see Use the Guide in Windows Media Center.
To download album art and other media information. When you play or copy a CD, Media Center will look for media information (such as album art and song titles) for your CD. For more information, see Play a CD or DVD in Windows Media Center.
If you get a message that an Internet connection is not detected, it might be because Media Center is having trouble detecting it. Try going through the Set Up Internet Connection wizard.
Center start screen, scroll to Tasks, click Settings, click General, click
, click Set Up Internet Connection, and then follow the instructions.
If you're having trouble connecting to the Internet on your computer in general, you'll need to set up an Internet connection before you can use it in Media Center. You can do this in the Connect to the Internet wizard:
Open the Connect to the Internet wizard by clicking the Start button , and then clicking Control Panel. In the search box, type network, click Network and Sharing Center, click Set up a new connection or network, and then double-click Connect to the Internet.
