How do I change who can see my information and activity?

Your privacy settings help you share the right information with the right people. For example, you can choose who can view your profile, photos, and friends.

To change your privacy settings

  1. Open Windows Live Messenger by clicking the Start button Picture of the Start button. In the search box, type Messenger, and then, in the list of results, click Windows Live Messenger.

  2. Sign in with your Windows Live ID.

  3. Point to your display picture and then click View your profile.

  4. Click Privacy, and then select a level—Private, Limited, or Public—or click Advanced to customize your settings.

  5. Click Save.
