Bing Weather app: Frequently asked questions

In the Bing Finance, Maps, News, Sports, and Weather apps, as in all Windows 8 and Windows RT apps, you can search or share info the same way:

  • To search: Swipe in from the right edge of the screen, and then tap Search.
    (If you're using a mouse, point to the upper-right corner of the screen, move the mouse pointer down, and then click Search.)

  • To share or send info: Swipe in from the right edge of the screen, and then tap Share.
    (If you're using a mouse, point to the upper-right corner of the screen, move the mouse pointer down, and then click Share.)

  • To update the Weather app:

    1. On the Start screen, tap or click Store to open the Windows Store.

    2. Tap or click Update.

How do I do other weather-related tasks?

To switch between Celsius and Fahrenheit, view world weather, or do other weather-related tasks, swipe up from the bottom edge or down from the top edge, and then tap the option you want. (If you're using a mouse, right-click within the app, and then click the option you want.)

How do I track the weather for a specific city?

  1. Swipe down from the top edge or up from the bottom edge (or right-click), and then tap or click Places.

  2. Tap or click the plus sign (+), and then enter a city.

How do I get detailed weather info for a specific city?

  1. Search for the city you want.

  2. Scroll to the right to view hourly forecasts, historical weather patterns, and other info.

How do I set my home location to get targeted weather reports?

  1. Swipe down from the top edge or up from the bottom edge (or right-click), and then tap or click Places.

  2. Swipe down or across the place you want to set as home (or right-click it), and then tap or click Set as Home.

How do I pin favorite places to the Start screen to get live weather updates?

  • When you're looking at a city you want to pin to Start, swipe down from the top edge or up from the bottom edge (or right-click), and then tap or click Pin to Start.
