Why can't I find or install an app from the Windows Store?

Here are some reasons why you might be unable to find or install an app from the Windows Store:

  • Your preferences might be hiding apps. You can set preferences in the Store so it’s easier to find apps that use your preferred language or apps that include accessibility features. When these settings are turned on, apps that don’t meet your preferences are hidden when you browse or search the Store. For more info about preferences, see Set your preferences for the Windows Store.

  • Family Safety settings might be hiding apps because of age rating. Parents can use Family Safety settings to make sure that their child can’t view or install apps that are inappropriate for their age from the Store. For more info about Family Safety, see Using Family Safety settings with the Windows Store.

  • The app isn’t available in your country or region. Although an app might be available in several different countries or regions, the developer might have decided not to release it in your country or region. This means you can see the app description page on the web, but when you try to view the app in the Store, you’ll see a message that the app isn’t available.

  • The payment method associated with your account isn’t from the country or region you’re in. To buy an app from the Store in a specific country or region (based on the Home location setting for your PC), your payment method needs to be from that country or region. For example, if you’re buying an app from the Store and your PC’s home location is set to the United States, your payment method needs to be one from the United States.

How to make sure the home location for your PC is correctly set to your country or region

    1. Swipe in from the right edge of the screen, and then tap Search.
(If you're using a mouse, point to the upper-right corner of the screen, move the mouse pointer down, and then click Search.)

    2. In the search box, enter region, tap or click Settings, and then, in the results, tap or click Region.

    3. Tap or click the Location tab.

    4. If the location isn't correct, select your location from the list, tap or click Apply, and then tap or click OK.

  • The app is no longer available in the Store. In some cases, an app might have been removed from the Store. This means you can see the app description page on the web, but when you try to view the app in the Store, you’ll see a message that the app isn’t available.

  • Your PC’s processor is incompatible with the app. The Store automatically hides apps that are incompatible with your PC’s processor so you don’t install apps that won’t run on your PC. This means you might see an app that's available in the Store on one PC, but the same app isn’t available in the Store on another PC that uses a different processor.

  • Your PC doesn't meet the system requirements for the app. You won't be able to install an app if your PC doesn't meet the system requirements for it. To view the system requirements for an app, go to the app's description page in the Store, and then tap or click Details. If your PC meets the system requirements for an app, but you're unable to install it, check to make sure you're not signed in to the PC or the Store using a temporary or guest account.
