How do I uninstall one or more Windows Essentials programs?

You can uninstall Windows Essentials all at once, or you can select individual programs to uninstall and keep the others.

To uninstall a Windows Essentials program in Windows 8

  1. Swipe in from the right edge of the screen, and then tap Search.
    (If you're using a mouse, point to the upper-right corner of the screen, move the mouse pointer down, and then click Search.)

  2. Enter uninstall, and then tap or click Settings.

  3. Tap or click Uninstall a program.

  4. Tap or click Windows Essentials, and then tap or click Uninstall/Change.

  5. Tap or click Uninstall, and then tap or click Continue. Administrator permission required You might be asked for an admin password or to confirm your choice.

  6. Select the program(s) that you want to uninstall, and then tap or click Uninstall.

To uninstall a Windows Essentials program in Windows 7 or Windows Vista

  1. Click the Start button Start button. In the search box, type Programs, and then, in the list of results, click Programs and Features.
  2. Click Windows Essentials, and then click Uninstall/Change. Administrator permission required You might be asked for an admin password or to confirm your choice.

  3. Click Uninstall, and then click Continue.

  4. Select the program(s) that you want to uninstall, and then click Uninstall.

To uninstall a Windows Essentials program manually in Windows 8

If Windows Essentials isn't listed in Programs and Features, or if you have problems uninstalling it from there, follow these steps:

  1. Swipe in from the right edge of the screen, and then tap Search.
    (If you're using a mouse, point to the upper-right corner of the screen, move the mouse pointer down, and then click Search.)

  2. Enter wlarp, and then tap or click Apps.

  3. Tap or click wlarp, and then select the option Remove one or more Windows Live programs.

  4. Select the program(s) that you want to uninstall, and then click Uninstall.

To uninstall a Windows Essentials program manually in Windows 7 or Windows Vista

If Windows Essentials isn't listed in Programs and Features, or if you have problems uninstalling it from there, follow these steps:

  1. In 32-bit versions of Windows, click the Start button Start button. In the search box, type (or copy and paste) %programfiles%\Windows Live\Installer, and then press Enter.
    In 64-bit versions of Windows, click the Start button Start button. In the search box, type (or copy and paste) %programfiles(x86)%\Windows Live\Installer, and then press Enter.

  2. Double-click wlarp.exe, and then select the option Remove one or more Windows Live programs.

  3. Select the program(s) that you want to uninstall, and then click Uninstall.

  • You must be signed in to Windows as an administrator to install or uninstall Windows Essentials or Microsoft programs.
