Windows Live Essentials Help & How-to
By using the remote connections feature in Windows Live Mesh, you can sit at one computer and connect to another computer in a different location. For example, you can connect to your work computer from your home computer and have access to all of your programs, files, and network resources as though you were in front of your computer at work. Both computers need to be PCs running Windows. You can't use Windows Live Mesh to connect remotely from or to a Mac.
If you're connecting from a computer that has Windows Live Mesh installed, start Windows Live Mesh, click Remote, and then click Connect to this computer. If the computer you want to connect to doesn't appear in the list, you need to log on to it and allow remote connections to it. You don't need to allow remote connections to the computer you're connecting from.
If you're connecting from a computer that doesn't have Windows Live Mesh installed, go to the Windows Live Devices website, and then click Connect to this computer.
Windows Live Mesh doesn't need to be open on the computer you want to connect to. The computer just needs to be turned on and connected to the Internet.
When you're connected to another computer remotely, you can copy and paste files and folders between that computer and the computer you're working at.
Right-click the file or folder you want to copy, and then click Copy.
Right-click the location on the other computer where you want to paste the file, and then click Paste.
When remote connections to a computer are allowed, anyone who has a Windows account with a password on the computer can connect to it remotely. Each person needs to log on with their password. (To see the list of Windows accounts on a computer, press Ctrl+Alt+Delete, and then click Switch User.)
