How do I sync program settings between computers?

With Windows Live Mesh, you can sync your Internet Explorer and Microsoft Office settings between computers. (Note that you can only sync program settings between PCs running Windows, not on a Mac. The program settings must also be saved on your computer, not in a network location.)

  1. Install Windows Live Mesh as part of Windows Live Essentials if you haven't already.

  2. Open Windows Live Mesh by clicking the Start button The Start button. In the search box, type Mesh, and then, in the list of results, click Windows Live Mesh.
  3. Under Program settings, click Turn on syncing next to one or both of these programs:

    • Internet Explorer — to set your Internet Explorer favorites to sync on the computer.

    • Microsoft Office — to set your styles, templates, custom dictionary, and email signatures to sync on the computer.

  4. Go to each computer and turn on syncing to start syncing these settings on other computers.
