Change Internet settings for ICS (Internet Connection Sharing)

To use Internet Connection Sharing (ICS) with computers on your network that are running Internet Explorer, you need to make the following changes on all but the host computer. Do not make these changes until you've set up ICS on the host computer. For more information about setting up ICS, see Set up a shared Internet connection using ICS (Internet Connection Sharing).

  1. Open Internet Options by clicking the Start button Picture of the Start button, clicking Control Panel, clicking Network and Internet, and then clicking Internet Options.

  2. Click the Connections tab, and then click Never dial a connection.

  3. Click LAN Settings.

  4. Under Automatic configuration, clear the Automatically detect settings and Use automatic configuration script check boxes.

  5. Under Proxy server, clear the Use a proxy server for your LAN check box.
