Change Windows Mail connection settings

You can use the Connection tab in the Windows Mail Options dialog box to change how Windows Mail connects to the Internet. To access the Connection tab:

  1. Open Windows Mail by clicking the Start button Picture of the Start button, clicking All Programs, and then clicking Windows Mail.

  2. Click the Tools menu, click Options, and then click the Connection tab.

If you use multiple dial-up connections and you want to prevent Windows Mail from disconnecting and trying to call a different connection when you send and receive e‑mail, select the Ask before switching dial-up connections check box.

If you want to disconnect from the Internet after you check your e‑mail, select the Hang up after sending and receiving check box. For more information, see Reducing connection time when retrieving e‑mail.
