Turn off the sound for new Windows Mail messages

Windows Mail lets you know when a new e‑mail message arrives in your Inbox by playing a short sound. If you don't want the sound to play when new messages arrive, you can turn it off.

  1. Open Windows Mail by clicking the Start button Picture of the Start button, clicking All Programs, and then clicking Windows Mail.

  2. Click the Tools menu, and then click Options.

  3. Click the General tab, and then clear the Play sound when new messages arrive check box.
