Connect to remote resources using Remote Desktop Web Access

You can use Remote Desktop Web Access (RD Web Access) to access remote programs and remote desktops (remote computers and virtual computers) over the Internet, if these resources are made available by a network administrator through RemoteApp.

You'll see two tabs in RD Web Access:

  • RemoteApp Programs — Use this tab to access programs that your administrator has made available.

  • Remote Desktop — Use this tab to connect to a remote desktop, just as you would with Remote Desktop Connection.

Here's how to connect using RD Web Access:

  1. Open your web browser, and type the URL your network administrator gave you. This URL is constructed as follows: https://computer name/rdweb. For example:

    • If the computer name is MyComputer, you would type https://mycomputer/rdweb.

    • If the IP address is 192.168.1.120, you would type https://192.168.1.120/rdweb.

  2. Type your user name and password, and then click OK.

When you are ready to disconnect, log off, and then close your browser.

Note

  • If you can't connect to the remote computer and you're using a firewall, open TCP port 80 and TCP port 443. For more information, see Open a port in Windows Firewall.
