Delete a game

If you prefer not to have a certain game appear in the Games folder, you can uninstall it or turn it off. There are two ways to do this, depending on the type of game you'd like to remove. You can also temporarily hide a game if you'd like to easily view it again.

If you installed a game earlier, and you don't want the game on your computer anymore, you can uninstall it.

To uninstall a previously installed game

  1. Click the Start button Picture of the Start button , click Control Panel, and under Programs, click Uninstall a program.
  2. Click the game from the list of programs, and then click Uninstall.

  3. Follow the wizard to uninstall the game.

The Games folder comes preloaded with a variety of games to play. You didn't need to install these games, so you don't need to uninstall them. But you can turn them off if you don't want any of them to appear in the Games folder.

To remove a Windows game from your Games folder

  1. Click the Start button Picture of the Start button, click Control Panel, click Programs, and then under Programs and Features, click Turn Windows features on or off.
  2. Click the plus sign next to the Games check box, clear the check box next to the game you'd like to turn off, and then click OK.

The game won't appear in your Games folder unless you follow these steps again and select the check box.

If you'd like to temporarily hide a game without deleting it or turning the game on or off, you can do that instead.

To hide a game

  1. Open the Games folder by clicking the Start button Picture of the Start button. In the search box, type games, and then, in the list of results, click Games Explorer.

  2. Right-click a game, and then click Hide This Game.

After you hide the game, it won't be visible in the Games folder.

To view a previously hidden game

  1. Open the Games folder by clicking the Start button Picture of the Start button. In the search box, type games, and then, in the list of results, click Games Explorer.

  2. Click the Options menu, and in the Set up game updates and options dialog box, click Unhide All Items.
