What shortcut keys can I use in Remote Desktop Connection?

You can use these Remote Desktop Services shortcut keys to perform many functions in Remote Desktop Connection.

The following table describes the Remote Desktop Services shortcut keys.

Shortcut key Description

Alt+Page Up

Switches between programs from left to right.

Alt+Page Down

Switches between programs from right to left.

Alt+Insert

Cycles through programs in the order in which they were opened.

Alt+Home

Displays the Start menu.

Ctrl+Alt+Break

Switches between a window and a full screen.

Ctrl+Alt+End

Displays the Windows Security dialog box.

Alt+Delete

Displays the Windows menu.

Ctrl+Alt+minus sign on the numeric keypad

Copies the active window, within the client computer, to the remote computer's Clipboard (provides the same functionality as pressing Alt+PrtScn on a local computer).

Ctrl+Alt+plus sign on the numeric keypad

Copies the entire client computer's window area to the remote computer's Clipboard (provides the same functionality as pressing PrtScn on a local computer).

Ctrl+Alt+right arrow

Enables you to tab out of the Remote Desktop controls to a control in the host program (for example, a button or a text box). Useful when the Remote Desktop controls are embedded in another (host) program.

Enables you to tab out of the Remote Desktop controls to a control in the host program (for example, a button or a text box). Useful when the Remote Desktop controls are embedded in another (host) program.

Notes

  • Ctrl+Alt+Del always goes to the local computer's desktop. If you need to send Ctrl+Alt+Del to the remote computer, you must use Ctrl+Alt+End.

  • To toggle between full screen and non-full screen mode during a Remote Desktop session, use Ctrl+Alt+Break.
