Here are answers to some common questions about Windows SideShow gadgets.
Some Windows SideShow gadgets are made for a specific Windows SideShow-compatible device and might not be compatible with other devices.
To find gadgets that can be used with your device, go to the Windows 7 Online Gallery website.
Some gadgets are installed for an individual user account, and not for every user on the computer. Make sure that you install the gadget while you are logged on to Windows with your user account. For more information, see Can I use a Windows SideShow-compatible device with more than one user account?
Also, some gadgets are installed on your device by the hardware manufacturer and don't appear on your computer. If you want to change the settings for a device-specific gadget that doesn't appear in Control Panel, you might be able to change it directly on the device. For more information, check the information that came with your device or go to the manufacturer's website.
Some desktop gadgets work with SideShow. After you add a desktop gadget that works with SideShow to the desktop, turn the gadget on in Windows SideShow in Control Panel. If a desktop gadget doesn't appear in Windows SideShow in Control Panel, you might be able to turn on SideShow for the gadget in the gadget settings. You might not be able to see your gadgets on your device for the following reasons:
