Internet Explorer 10 is designed to provide an add-on free experience. Add-ons, like Java, will only work in Internet Explorer for the desktop.

To install Java in Internet Explorer for the desktop

  1. Open Internet Explorer for the desktop.

  2. Go to Java.com.

  3. Tap or click the Free Java Download button, and then tap or click Agree and Start Free Download. If you're prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, enter the password or provide confirmation.

  4. On the Notification bar, tap or click Run. If you're prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, enter the password or provide confirmation.

  5. Tap or click Install and then tap or click Close.

To uninstall older versions of Java

  1. Swipe in from the right edge of the screen (if you're using a mouse, point to the upper-right corner of the screen and move the mouse pointer down), tap or click Search, enter Control panel in the search box, tap or click Apps, and then tap or click Control Panel.

  2. Tap or click Programs, and then tap or click Uninstall a program.

  3. Select Java from the list of apps, and then tap or click Uninstall. You might be prompted for an administrator password or confirmation.

To install Java

  1. Open Internet Explorer.

  2. Go to Java.com.
