How to buy apps for kids

If your child uses their own Microsoft account to sign in to Windows, they probably don't have a payment method attached to their account to buy apps in the Windows Store. You can buy apps for your child, or install apps for them that you already own, by signing in to the Windows Store with your account.

You can also buy a Windows Store gift card that your child can redeem using their own account in the Windows Store. For more info about Windows Store gift cards, go to the Microsoft account website.

Note

  • Gift card availability varies by retailer, and by country or region.

  • For more info about using Family Safety, see Use your Microsoft account to install apps on multiple PCs.

  • For more info about installing your apps on other PCs, see Use Family Safety with the Windows Store.

  • If you don’t see Account, your PC doesn’t have the latest update for the Store yet. Instead swipe down from the top edge of the screen (or if you’re using a mouse, right-click) and then tap or click Your account or Your apps.
