Play DVDs

If you want to play DVDs on your PC, all you need is a DVD drive and the right app. You can browse the Windows Store to get apps that play DVDs, or if you've already bought the Windows Media Center Pro Pack or the Pro Pack Upgrade, then you're all set.

Here's how to play DVDs with Windows Media Center:

  1. Swipe in from the right edge of the screen, and then tap Search.
(If you're using a mouse, point to the lower-right corner of the screen, move the mouse pointer up, and then click Search.)
, enter Windows Media Center, and then tap or click Windows Media Center.

  2. Make sure Media Center is in full-screen mode, and then insert your DVD into your PC.

  3. If you don't see the main DVD title menu, scroll to Movies, and then tap or click Play DVD.

Note

  • Windows Media Center isn't available for Windows RT 8.1. If you’ve got Windows RT 8.1 and a DVD drive, you’ll need to search for a DVD player app in the Windows Store. If you're not sure which Windows operating system you have, see Which Windows operating system do I have?
