Installation error 0x8104000b: It says you’re not connected to the Internet even though you're connected

You may see installation error code 0x8104000b with the error message “Couldn’t set up the installer check to be sure you are connected to the Internet” when you're trying to install Windows Essentials.

To fix this, try refreshing your Internet connection.

To refresh your Internet connection

  1. Open Internet Explorer.

  2. Click the tools icon Tools icon, and then click Internet options.
  3. Click the Connections tab, and then click the LAN settings button.

  4. Select the check box for Use automatic configuration script.

  5. In the Address box below the automatic configuration script check box, copy the URL and paste it somewhere so that you can get to it again later.

  6. Delete the URL currently shown in the Address box, and replace it with a space character, and then click OK.

  7. Click the LAN settings button again.

  8. Now clear the Use automatic configuration script check box, and click OK in both dialog boxes.

  9. Save your work, close all programs you have running, and restart your PC.

  10. Click OK in the Internet options dialog box.

  11. Try again to download and install the programs you want from Windows Essentials.
