Sweep, junk and delete

Keep your inbox clean and organised by getting rid of old or unimportant messages.

Show all

Sweeping (only available for Outlook.com)

Sweep helps you delete all the messages you don’t want – past, present and future – from one sender.

  1. Tap or click the space just before a message from the sender whose messages you want to delete.

  2. Tap or click Sweep and choose the option you want.

Marking email as junk

You can mark messages as junk and we'll remember those senders so you don't see those messages in your inbox in the future.

  1. Tap or click the space just before a message and then select the messages you want to move to the junk folder.

  2. Tap or click Junk and the messages will be moved to the Junk folder.

If you move a message to the junk folder by mistake:

  1. Tap or click Folders, then tap or click Junk to go to the junk folder.

  2. Tap or click the space just before a message, then select the boxes next to the messages you want.

  3. Tap or click Not junk and the messages will be moved back to where they were.

Deleting

If you just want to delete a single message or messages from different senders, here’s how:

  1. Tap or click the space just before a message, then select the boxes next to the messages you want to delete.

  2. Tap or click Delete.
