The Hijiri calendar, also known as the Islamic calendar, is a lunar calendar. You can adjust the calendar in Windows to display dates according to the Hijiri calendar. To do this, you need to:
Add the Arabic language.
Set the format for dates and digits to an Arabic region or country.
Change the calendar type to Hijiri.
The following sections explain how to do each of these tasks.
This version of Windows supports other lunar calendars, such as Hebrew. You can display dates using other lunar calendars by following the same basic steps of adding the input language, setting the format for dates to a region or country that uses that calendar, and changing the calendar type.
Open Regional and Language Options by clicking the Start button , clicking Control Panel, clicking Clock, Language, and Region, and then clicking Regional and Language Options.
Click the Keyboards and Languages tab, and then click Change keyboards.
Under Installed Services, click Add.
Click Arabic (Egypt), click Keyboard, select Arabic (101), and then click OK.
Click the Formats tab, select an Arabic region or country, and then click OK.
The calendar is updated to reflect the format.
Click the Formats tab, and then click Customize this format.
Click the Date tab, and under Calendar, in the Calendar type list, click Hijiri date, and then click OK.
