Rotate a picture using Windows Photo Viewer

If a digital picture appears sideways, you can fix it by rotating the picture 90 degrees clockwise or counterclockwise. This works great for pictures that were taken with a camera turned on its side.

To rotate a picture

  1. Open the Pictures library by clicking the Start button Picture of the Start button, and then clicking Pictures.

  2. In the Pictures library, click the picture you want to rotate, click the down arrow next to Preview on the toolbar, and then click Windows Photo Viewer.

  3. Click one of the Rotate buttons to turn the picture 90 degrees clockwise or counterclockwise.
