This describes the many editing options available in the Camera, Photos, and SkyDrive apps on Windows 8.1 and Windows RT 8.1. If you would like to make other edits, search the Windows Store on your PC for other photo and video editing apps or download Photo Gallery and Movie Maker. Note that Photo Gallery and Movie Maker aren't available for Windows RT 8.1.

Open the Photos, Camera, or SkyDrive app, or open File Explorer.
Go to the photo you want to edit, and then tap or click it to open it.
Swipe up from the bottom edge.(If you're using a mouse, right-click within the app.) This shows the commands you can use to start editing.
If you’d like to continue editing when you’re done with that photo, use the arrows to go to the next photo. If you’re in the Photos or SkyDrive app, you can use the back button to browse to other folders.
Open the photo you want to crop.
Tap or click Crop.
Tap or click Aspect ratio and pick from the preset options or drag the borders where you want them.
When the photo is how you want it, tap or click Apply.
When you're done making changes, save the photo. You can update the original photo or save a copy with your changes.
Open the photo you want to rotate.
Tap or click Rotate. The photo rotates 90 degrees clockwise. Each tap or click turns it another 90 degrees.
The photo is saved automatically.
Videos can't be rotated in the Photos, Camera, or SkyDrive apps.
Open a photo.
Tap or click Edit.
Tap or click a category on a left, and then tap or click an editing option on the right.
Make your edits. See the following sections for more details on each option.
If you want to zoom in or out in the photo, use the + and - in the lower right or pinch and stretch fingers on the screen.
When you’re done making changes, swipe in from the bottom edge or right-click, and then save your photo. You can save a copy or update the original photo. (You might only see one of these options, depending on the file's type and permission settings.)
Open the photo you want to edit.
Choose which of the automatically enhanced images you want to use.
When you’re done editing, swipe up from the bottom edge or right-click. You can then save your changes or tap or click Cancel. See Basic photo editing for details.
Tap or click Basic fixes.
Choose from these options.
Tap or click Rotate until the photo is turned the way you want it. Your changes are saved automatically.
Tap or click Aspect ratio and pick a size or drag the borders where you want them.
Tap or click Apply.
Remove red eye
Tap or click Red eye.
Tap or click where you want to remove the red glow. You can zoom in for more accuracy.
Tap or click Retouch.
Tap or click the spot or spots you want retouched. You can zoom in for more accuracy.
Tap or click Light.
Choose from these options and then use the dial to change the setting.
Makes the image lighter or darker
Adjusts the difference between the light and dark parts of the photo
Adjusts the bright areas of the photo
Adjusts the dark areas of the photo
Open the photo you want to edit.
Tap or click Color.
Adjust the settings:
For Temperature, Tint, and Saturation, use the dials to change the settings.
For Color enhance, drag the pin to the color you want to enhance, then use the dial to change the setting. If you want to enhance other colors, move the pin and adjust the setting again.
Adjusts how cool or warm the photo looks
Adds a green or magenta tint
Adjusts the intensity of colors
Adjusts how vibrant a selected color looks. This affects everywhere the color appears in the photo and doesn’t affect the other colors.
Vignette darkens or lightens the corners of the photo. Selective focus lets you pick part of the photo to keep in focus and blurs out the rest.
Tap or click Effects.
Add vignette effect
Tap or click Vignette, and then use the dial to change the setting.
Add selective focus
Tap or click Selective focus.
Adjust the circle by changing its size, shape, and location. What’s inside the circle will stay in focus.
Tap or click Strength and pick how blurred you want the rest of the photo.
Tap or click Preview to see the results.
When you’re done making changes, tap or click Apply.
Open the video you want to trim.
Tap or click Trim, and then move the handles at the left and right ends of the time line to new start and end points.
When you’re done making changes, tap or click Save a copy to save your video.
In the Photos or SkyDrive app, go to the folder with the files you want to delete.
Do one of the following:
To delete only one file, tap or click to open it, and then swipe up from the bottom or right-click to see the app commands.
To delete multiple files, swipe down on or right-click each file, or tap or click Select all.
Tap or click Delete.
