Record live TV

With the right equipment, you can schedule and record live TV shows and movies on your PC.

Here's what you need to get started:

Connect the TV tuner to your PC, make sure your signal source works for your TV tuner, and then you're ready to watch and record.

Record live TV

  1. Swipe in from the right edge of the screen, and then tap Search.
    (If you're using a mouse, point to the lower-right corner of the screen, move the mouse pointer up, and then click Search.)
    , enter Windows Media Center, and then tap or click Windows Media Center.

  2. Scroll to TV, and then tap or click Live TV.

  3. To start recording while the show is airing, tap or click the Record button in the playback controls.

Schedule recordings

  1. Swipe in from the right edge of the screen, and then tap Search.
    (If you're using a mouse, point to the lower-right corner of the screen, move the mouse pointer up, and then click Search.)
    , enter Windows Media Center, and then tap or click Windows Media Center.

  2. Scroll to TV, and then tap or click Search.

  3. Tap or click the category that you want to search by (such as Title), and then follow the instructions to start a search.

  4. On the search results page, tap or click the TV show or movie that you want to record, and then click Record to schedule a recording.

Watch a recorded show

  1. Swipe in from the right edge of the screen, and then tap Search.
    (If you're using a mouse, point to the lower-right corner of the screen, move the mouse pointer up, and then click Search.)
    , enter Windows Media Center, and then tap or click Windows Media Center.

  2. Scroll to TV, tap or click Recorded TV, tap or click the show you want to watch, and then tap or click Play.
