What do I do if I can't see pictures in my blog?

If your blog service provider lets you save pictures directly within the blog, and you can't see the pictures in your blog post, contact your blog service provider.

If your blog service provider doesn't let you save your pictures directly within your blog, you can set up an FTP site to save your pictures to. To learn how to set up an FTP site in Writer, see How do I set up an FTP site for my pictures?

If you set up an FTP site and you can't see your pictures, you might see the following error messages:

Mapping verification failed

You might see this error message if Windows Live Writer can't find where your picture is saved on the FTP site. Here are some troubleshooting tips:

  • In Writer, in the FTP Site Configuration dialog box, verify that the web address from the Web address of publishing folder box is correct.

  • On the website of the hosting service, make sure that the picture is in the folder on the FTP site.

  • On the website of the hosting service, review the permissions for the folder to make sure the web address is HTTP accessible.

Can't connect

You might see this error message if Writer can't find the FTP site. Here are some troubleshooting tips:

  • In Writer, make sure that you've configured the server name correctly.

  • Using an FTP program, try to connect directly to your FTP site to make sure that it's available.
