A wide variety of devices are compatible with Media Center, including many MP3 players, storage cards, USB flash drives, and even some mobile phones. Refer to the manufacturer's website or the documentation that came with your device to see if it's compatible.

Some devices require proprietary software to sync media, and therefore can't be synced using Media Center.

To sync media to a device

  1. Click the Start button The Start button, click All Programs, and then click Windows Media Center.
  2. Connect the device to your computer. If you're using a portable device, turn it on.

  3. On the Windows Media Center start screen, scroll to Tasks, and then click Sync.

You'll be presented with a list of priorities that determine what media will be synced to your device, and in what order. Each time you sync, lower priority files are removed from your device to make room for higher priority files. You can move a priority up or down in the list by clicking the Up arrow The Up arrow or Down arrow The Down arrow, or remove one by clicking the Delete button The Down arrow.
  4. Click Start Sync to copy your media to your device.
