Stay up to date

Make sure you've always got the latest version of Internet Explorer by turning on automatic upgrades. You'll get updates to Internet Explorer through Windows Update, including upgrades to the latest version.

To turn on automatic upgrades

  1. Open the desktop, and then tap or click the Internet Explorer icon on the taskbar.

  2. Tap or click the Tools button Tools (or tap or click Help in the Menu bar), and then tap or click About Internet Explorer.
  3. Select the Install new versions automatically check box, and then tap or click Close.

To turn off automatic upgrades

  1. Open the desktop, and then tap or click the Internet Explorer icon on the taskbar.

  2. Tap or click the Tools button Tools (or tap or click Help in the Menu bar), and then tap or click About Internet Explorer.
  3. Clear the Install new versions automatically check box, and then tap or click Close.
