The Music app
Rip and burn CDs
Music apps in the Windows Store
With the Music app that comes free with Windows 8.1 and Windows RT 8.1, you can play and manage all of the music from your collection, including albums ripped from CDs, songs bought from other music services, and the playlists you’ve created.
Your music is organized in helpful categories you can browse, like the artist’s name or a song’s title, and you can also search for an artist, song, or album so you can quickly play whatever you want.
Swipe in from the right edge of the screen, and then tap Search.(If you're using a mouse, point to the upper-right corner of the screen, move the mouse pointer down, and then click Search.)
Enter music, and then tap or click Music.
When you open the Music app for the first time, it automatically finds the music files stored in your Music folder. If you need to add more of your CDs, learn how to rip (copy) music.
On the left, tap or click Collection.
Search for music using the Albums, Artists, or Songs tabs, and you can filter and sort by date, genre, and name.
Select a song or album, and then tap or click the Play button.
Use the controls at the bottom of the screen to play, pause, skip, and set other playback options.
If you want to listen to music while you use another app, resize the Music app and use the playback controls in the smaller window, or open a second app full-screen and use the playback controls on your keyboard (if you have one).
