If your PC has a built-in camera or a connected webcam, you can use the Camera app to take photos and videos.
From the Start screen, open the Camera app.
Do one of the following:
If you want to see the photo or video, drag the screen to the right or click the left arrow.
All photos and videos are saved to your camera roll. For more about the camera roll, see "How do I see photos and videos I've taken with the Camera app?" on this page.
When you're signed in and your PC is locked, swipe down on the lock screen or click and drag down to get to the camera.
Take a photo or video.
If you want to see the rest of your camera roll or change settings, tap or click the Unlock button, sign in to your PC, and go to the Camera app.
If you can't get to your camera from the lock screen, do the following:
Swipe in from the right edge of the screen, tap Settings, and then tap Change PC settings.(If you're using a mouse, point to the lower-right corner of the screen, move the mouse pointer up, click Settings, and then click Change PC settings.)
Tap or click PC and devices, and then tap or click Lock screen.
Set Use camera from the lock screen to On.
Options when taking a photo or video
You can make one-time adjustments before you take a photo or video, like a flash or timer. You can also set some options so they're on or off all the time, like showing grid lines and including location info in the file. You'll only see options that are available on your camera.
One-time options: These appear automatically when taking a photo or video. Your options might include:
Change to a different camera
Set the self-timer
Change the exposure
Turn the flash on, off, or to auto
Use Spot adjust to change what gets emphasized
Swipe in from the right edge of the screen, and then tap Settings.(If you're using a mouse, point to the lower-right corner of the screen, move the mouse pointer up, and then click Settings.)
Tap or click Options.
Adjust the settings. Your options might include:
Change the photo aspect ratio or video quality
Turn the video lamp and microphone on or off
Turn video stabilization on or off
Show or hide grid lines
Turn location info on or off
All pictures, videos, and panoramas you take with the Camera app are saved to your camera roll. There are several ways to look through your camera roll.
In the Camera app, swipe to the right or click the arrow on the left side of the screen. You can also swipe up from the bottom edge or right-click to see the app commands, and then tap or click Camera roll.
In the Photos app or File Explorer, go to the Pictures folder, and then to the Camera roll folder.
In the SkyDrive
app, go to the Camera roll folder.
Your camera roll only appears on SkyDrive if you automatically upload photos or videos to there. For more info, see the section "Can I automatically save my photos and videos online?" on this page.
Panoramas can only be viewed in the Camera, Photos, and SkyDrive apps or on SkyDrive.com. To share a panaroma, put it on
SkyDrive and send people a link to the file.
Use the Camera app's visual guidelines to help you line up each image to create an immersive panorama. Panoramas are great for capturing landscapes and city skylines, as well as creating a 360-degree image of a space.
Your PC must have a built-in, rear-facing camera to take panoramas.
Determine what you want to be the starting point for your image and aim the camera at it.
Slowly tilt or rotate the camera in any direction to line up the next image.
When you align the new image with the existing images, the camera automatically takes the next image.
Repeat the previous two steps until you've completed your panorama.
Tap or click the check mark.
The Camera app stitches together the images and saves the panorama in the camera roll. To view your panorama, you'll need to use the Camera, Photos, or SkyDrive apps or post them to SkyDrive.com.
Tips for improving panoramas
For best results when taking a panorama:
Move slowly and steadily.
Keep the camera in the same place as you tilt and rotate it, as if it's on a tripod.
For wide angle shots, step around the camera. Walk in circle as you tile and rotate the camera, always keeping the camera in the same spot.
Use the guidelines in the viewfinder to help line up your next image. They'll indicate when your new image aligns with existing images.
Pause when the guidelines show that the new and existing images are aligned. The camera automatically takes the next image at that moment, and pausing helps keep the image in focus.
On certain tablets, the Camera app automatically takes a several photos in a row (known as a photo loop) every time you take a photo. This loop includes images that are captured right before and after you take a photo. If your device supports this, you’ll see a rectangle showing the default image in the lower-left corner. You can then review the images and save your favorite one. If you don’t have time to review them, the default image will automatically be saved to your camera roll.
To review the images and save the one you want:
Take a photo.
Tap or click the preview image in the lower-left corner.
Turn the dial to review the images.
When looking at the one you want, tap or click the Save button in the dial.

Swipe to the right or click the left arrow to see your recent photos and videos. Keep swiping or clicking the left arrow until you find the photo you want to edit.
Swipe in from the bottom edge to see the app commands.(If you're using a mouse, right-click within the app.)
Do any of the following:
Tap or click Rotate. This change saves automatically.
Tap or click Crop. You can choose from a list of options or change the size manually.
Tap or click Edit. Tap or click the type of edit you want to make on the left side, and then tap or click the option on the right side.
Types of edits include:
Auto fix, a selection of automatically adjusted images.
Basic fixes, such as cropping, rotating, removing red eye, and retouching.
Light adjustments, such as changing brightness, contrast, highlights, and shadows.
such as changing temperature, tint, and saturation. You can also pick a color and use Color enhance to adjust that color everywhere in the photo.
such as darkening or lightening the corners with Vignette and changing the focus area with Selective focus.
Save the edited photo. You can update the original photo or save a copy with your changes.
Swipe to the right or click the arrow on the left side of the screen to look through your recent photos and videos. Keep swiping or clicking the arrows until you find the video you want.
Tap or click Trim, and then move the handles at the left and right ends of the time line to new start and end points.
Tap or click Save a copy.
Swipe to the right or click the arrow on the left side of the screen to look through your recent photos and videos. Keep swiping or clicking the arrows until you find the photo or video you want.
Tap or click Delete.
You can delete multiple photos and videos when you use the Photos app, the SkyDrive app, or File Explorer.
Yes. You can set it so your camera automatically uploads everything to SkyDrive. You can choose what quality to use when uploading photos, too.

With so many brands of webcams and cameras available, there are many reasons why something might not work. Each brand is different, so it's a good idea to check the manufacture's website for user guides and troubleshooting help.
For cameras that plug into your PC, the problem can often be fixed by disconnecting and reconnecting the camera.
If it’s still not working, there might be a problem with the camera’s drivers. You can install driver updates from your camera's manufacturer, or you can use your PC’s default drivers. You can also check the

Swipe in from the right edge of the screen, and then tap Search.(If you're using a mouse, point to the upper-right corner of the screen, move the mouse pointer down, and then click Search.)
Enter Device Manager in the search box, tap or click Settings, and then tap or click Device Manager in the results.
Expand Imaging devices.
Right-click the camera that's having problems and tap or click Update Driver Software.
Tap or click Search automatically for updated driver software, and then follow the on-screen instructions. This might include restarting your PC.
Tap or click Browse my computer for driver software.
