Collections are a way to bookmark items you want to easily reference again. Any recipes, wines and cocktails can be added to Collections.
To create a new collection, click Add to Collections from a recipe, wine or cocktail.
Tap or click Create a new collection, enter a name and click Add.
To add an item to an existing collection, click the desired collection.
To set your cover image while in Collections, right-click the desired image or swipe it downward to see the app commands. Click Set Cover.
To delete or rename a collection, right-click the desired folder or swipe it downward to see the app commands.
Select Delete or Rename.
A new collection can be added from the same menu by selecting New.
You can add or remove content to suit your interests and change the order of sections exactly as you'd like.
From home, swipe down from the top of the screen or right-click to see the app commands.
In the lower left-hand corner of the screen, click Customize.
Drag and drop to reorder sections, as you prefer.
To remove a category, select the X in the top corner of the category you want to hide.
To add categories back in that you previously removed:
Click Manage Categories.
Select the category you would like to add back in.
The check mark lets you know that the category has been added.
Hands-Free was designed specifically for use while cooking because it allows you to view the app’s recipes in a format that's easier to read from a distance. If your computer or tablet is equipped with a camera, Hands-Free will allow you to look through recipes without touching the screen by waving your hand in front of the camera (perfect for messy hands).
From any recipe within the app, click Hands-Free.
Wave your hand in front of your camera in order to advance forwards or backwards. This lets you browse the ingredients and recipes Hands-Free, and step-by-step without dirtying your screen.
If you don’t have a camera, go through the steps by using the arrows on either side of the screen or the boxes at the bottom of the screen.
Here are some reasons you might be having problems using the Hands-Free mode.
Reason 1: You don’t have a front facing camera on your device.
Hands-Free can only be used ‘hands-free’ on computers with front facing cameras. If you don’t have a front-facing camera, you can still use this step-by-step format by clicking or tapping forwards and backwards through each recipe.
Reason 2: You’ve denied the app permission to use your camera. You can reinstate permission by following these steps:
Swipe in from the right edge of the screen, and then tap Settings. If you're using a mouse, point to the lower-right corner of the screen, move the mouse pointer up, and then click Settings.
Tap or click Permissions, toggle your Webcam permissions to On.
You can now use Hands-Free mode.
Meal Planner is a tool that lets you plan out your meals for the week.
To open Meal Planner, tap or clickon Today’s Meal Plan from the home screen or, from anywhere in the app, swipe down from the top of the screen or right-click with your mouse and tap or click Meal Planner.
Select the day for which you would like to create a plan.
You can add custom entries or search for meal and drink ideas in the app to add to your meal planner from here as well.
From a recipe, wine or cocktail page, tap or click Add to Meal Planner to send it directly to Meal Planner.
To delete an item from Meal Planner, click the edit pencil button next to the name of the day of the week. Tap or click the x on the tile you want to delete. Alternatively, you can right-click the item you want to delete or drag it downward with your finger until an x in a red circle appears. Tap or click the x to delete it.
Add a Recipe lets you input recipes from outside the app—like your grandmother’s lasagna or a recipe you saw in a magazine—into Collections.
You can add a recipe by clicking on Add a Recipe on the home screen.
For each recipe, you're required to fill in a title.
Optional steps include:
Adding a picture of your recipe or dish. You can take one using your camera or upload one from your computer.
Adding ingredients, steps and notes about the recipe.
To save it, click Save Recipe, which will allow you to store the recipe into a new or existing Collection.
Shopping List lets you create a custom shopping list. You can add your own ingredients/items or add ingredients directly from recipes to your shopping list.
From the home screen, tap or click Shopping List.
Select New Group from the bottom menu and start typing the group name you want.
Press Enter and start typing to add items to that group.
Additionally, you can go to any recipe or cocktail page, click Add to Shopping List to send some or all of the recipes ingredients to your shopping list. Here are some other ways to manage your list.
To add ingredients: All ingredients are selected by default. Unselect the items you don't want, and then tap or click Add Selected Items to add them to your list.
To delete an item from your shopping list: Tap or click the item and use the Backspace key to delete it.
To clear all items from the shopping list: Tap or click Clear All.
To share your shopping list:
Swipe in from the right edge of the screen, and then tap Share. If you’re using a mouse, point to the upper-right corner of the screen, move the mouse pointer down, and then click Share.
Select the sharing option you like.
To print your shopping list: Select Print from the bottom menu, select a printer, and then tap or click Print.
