Log off or turn off your computer in Windows Media Center

There are five ways to log off of or exit from your computer in Windows Media Center using the Shutdown menu.

You can use Media Only mode Picture of the Media Only button to display Windows Media Center full screen to watch recorded TV, play video games, or listen to music with others. In Media Only mode, the Minimize, Restore, and Close buttons are hidden in Windows Media Center.

To enter Media Only mode

  1. On the start screen, scroll to Tasks, and then click media only.

  2. Click Yes to confirm.

  3. To exit Media Only mode, on the start screen, scroll to Tasks, and then click exit media only.

To close Windows Media Center

  • On the start screen, scroll to Tasks, click shutdown, and then click Close.

To log off from the computer

  • On the start screen, scroll to Tasks, click shutdown, and then click Log Off.

To shut down the computer

  • On the start screen, scroll to Tasks, click shutdown, and then click Shut Down.

To restart the computer

  • On the start screen, scroll to Tasks, click shutdown, and then click Restart.

To put Windows Media Center in sleep mode

  • On the start screen, scroll to Tasks, click shutdown, and then click Sleep.
