Preview the appearance of a printed webpage
You can use print preview in Windows Internet Explorer 9 to see how a webpage will appear on a printed page and to make adjustments to improve its appearance.
Show all
To preview and print a webpage in Internet Explorer 9
-
Open Internet Explorer by clicking the Start button
, and then clicking Internet Explorer.
-
Go to the page you want to print.
-
Click the
Tools button

, point to
Print, and then click
Print preview.
-
If you want to print a specific page, click the
Next Page button

or the
Previous Page button

to find the page, and then click the
Print Document button

.

In the Print dialog box, do one or more of the following:
-
To Print a single page you're viewing in Print Preview, under Page Range, click Current Page.
-
To print all pages, under Page Range, click All .
-
To print several pages in a row, under Page Range, in the Pages text box, type the first and last page, separated by a dash (for example, 2-7).
-
Click the Print button.
Note
-
Press the Esc key at any time to exit Print Preview or the Print dialog box without printing.

If you go to a webpage and open Print Preview before the page is fully loaded in the browser, the page will appear blank in Print Preview.
To cancel printing in Windows Vista

Open Printers by clicking the
Start button

, clicking
Control Panel, and then clicking
Printers.
-
Double-click the printer that you're using.
-
In the print queue, right-click the item that you want to stop printing, and then click Cancel.
To cancel printing in Windows 7
-
Open Devices and Printers by clicking the
Start button

, and then, on the Start menu, clicking
Devices and Printers.
-
Click your printer's icon, and then click See what's printing on the command bar.
-
Right-click the document waiting to be printed, click Cancel, and then click Yes.
Changing how a page is displayed on the screen and printed page
The following table describes Print Preview options that affect both what you see on the screen and what appears on the printed page.

Using headers and footers
You can add additional information on the top and bottom of webpages you print. You can add things like the date or time, page numbers, window title, or webpage address. You can include items on the left, center, or right of either the header or footer, or both.
To customize the headers or footers of pages you print, do the following:

Open Internet Explorer by clicking the Start button
, and then clicking Internet Explorer.

Go to the webpage you want to print.

Click the
Tools button

, point to
Print, and then click
Page Setup.

In the Page Setup dialog box, click the lists under Headers and Footers, and then click the items you want to print.

To preview and print a webpage in Internet Explorer 7 or Internet Explorer 8

Open Internet Explorer by clicking the Start button
, and then clicking Internet Explorer.

Go to the page you want to print.

Click the arrow to the right of the
Print button

, and then click
Print Preview.

If you want to print a specific page, click the
Next Page button

or the
Previous Page button

to find the page, and then click the
Print Document button

.

In the Print dialog box, do one or more of the following:

More printer-specific tasks, such as printing a range of pages or choosing paper size, are set in the Print dialog box and are not set in Print Preview. When you're in Print Preview, click the Print button to open the Print dialog box. In Internet Explorer, press Ctrl+P to open the Print dialog box.
