Report problems and check for solutions automatically

If a program stops working or responding, Windows can automatically report the problem and check for a solution.

  1. Open Problem Reports and Solutions by clicking the Start button Picture of the Start button, clicking Control Panel, clicking System and Maintenance, and then clicking Problem Reports and Solutions.

  2. In the left pane, click Change settings.

  3. Select Check for solutions automatically (recommended), and then click OK. You'll be notified if there are steps you can take to prevent or solve the problem, or if Microsoft needs more information to find or create a solution.
