Set up Windows to automatically play CDs and DVDs

You can set up your computer so that when you insert a CD or DVD, it will play automatically and you won't have to select your preferences every time.

  1. Open AutoPlay by clicking the Start button Picture of the Start button, clicking Control Panel, clicking Hardware and Sound, and then clicking AutoPlay.

  2. Select the action that you want Windows to perform for each media type, and then click Save.

Devices that are connected to your computer are listed at the bottom of the AutoPlay window, and you can also select default actions for them.
