Show the menus in folders

Menus are still available in the current version of Windows, but they are hidden by default. You can show menus if you need them, although many of the same tasks you would perform by using menus are now available on the toolbar or on the menu that appears when you right-click a file or folder.

  • To show menus, press the ALT key, and the menu bar will appear above the toolbar.

    To make the menu bar disappear, choose a command from any of the menus, or press ALT a second time.

Tip

To permanently show the menu bar, click Organize on the toolbar, point to Layout, and then click Menu Bar.
