What's new for Tablet PC?

Tablet PC Input Panel makes it easy for you to use your own handwriting to enter text into any program quickly. Input Panel has a new look and includes the following new features:

• The Input Panel tab

• AutoComplete in Input Panel

• Back-of-pen erase

• More natural scratch-out gestures

• Password security settings

Now you can teach the handwriting recognizer how you write by providing handwriting samples in the Handwriting recognition personalization tool.

You can also turn on automatic learning so that the handwriting recognizer gathers information about the words that you use and how you write them.

If Input Panel seems to incorrectly recognize your handwriting (even if you use the Handwriting recognition personalization tool), wouldn't you like to report it? Now you can. Handwriting recognition error reporting gives you a way to send Microsoft the corrections you've made in Input Panel. Your feedback can then be used to improve the handwriting recognizer in future versions of Windows.

Pen flick gestures are an easier way to use your tablet pen to quickly navigate through browser windows and documents, and perform editing shortcuts such as copy, paste, undo, and delete. For example, you can drag up or down on a page, move back or forward in a browser window, or paste an item into a document—all with a flick of your pen.

There are new pen cursors that provide visual feedback for standard pen actions, such as single-tap, double-tap, and right-click equivalents. This can make it easier to see what you've tapped, and when.

Use Snipping Tool, to capture an image by circling an area of your screen, and write on it using your tablet pen. Then e-mail the image, add it to a journal file, or put it in any other location where you can paste a graphic.

Sometimes it's much more convenient and fun to use your finger to interact with your computer. Some new Tablet PCs have touch-enabled screens. If touch input is available on your computer, you can use your finger to do many of the things that you do with a mouse or a tablet pen. For example, you can move the pointer on the screen, select objects, and open files and folders.
