Search Suggestions

Search suggestions sends text that you type in the search box to your current search provider (to Bing, Google, or Yahoo!, for example), and then the search provider generates a list of suggested terms. If one of the suggestions matches your intended search term, you can click it to perform a search.

For more information about search suggestions and search providers, see Change or choose a search provider in Internet Explorer.

  1. Open Internet Explorer by clicking the Start button Picture of the Start button, and then clicking Internet Explorer.

  2. Click the Tools button, and then click Manage Add-ons.

  3. Under Add-on Types, click Search Providers, and then select a search provider.

  4. In the bottom pane, next to the Search suggestions: field, choose one of the following options:

    • Click Enable suggestions to turn on search suggestions.

    • Click Disable suggestions to turn off search suggestions.

Accelerator previews

Accelerator previews are pop-up windows that display information from Accelerators, which are add-ons you can use to perform searches and other tasks using text you select on a webpage.

For more information about Accelerators, see Using Accelerators to find addresses, define words, and do other tasks with selected text.
