Work Folders is a place where you can store work files and get to them from all of your devices, even when you’re not connected to the Internet.
If your workplace has set up a Work Folders account for you, you can install the iPad app to keep your work files close at hand.
Work Folders won’t work until the IT admin for your workplace sets up your account.
After an admin sets up your account:
Install the Work Folders app from the App Store on your iPad.
Make sure you're connected to the Internet, launch the app, and then follow the setup instructions.
After setup is finished, tap a file to see it.
Tap this button to change your app settings. Use it to:
Update your password
Change your app passcode (the four-digit PIN that unlocks the app)
See how much storage space Work Folders is using on your iPad
See details about any problems with the app
Use this button to change the way that files are sorted. Try sorting by name, type, size, or date modified.
This lets you select particular files so you can pin or unpin them.
After you've selected files, tap this button to pin files so you can see them when you're not connected to the Internet.
Tap this button to unpin selected files.
Tap this button to see all of your pinned files.
Tap this button to see all of your Work Folder files.
Yes, pinning files copies them to your iPad so you can see them when you're not connected to the Internet.
The Work Folders app updates your files if they're changed from other devices, but it can only check for updates when it's open and your iPad is connected to the Internet.
At this time, you can use this app to see Work Folder files, but you won't be able to upload changes.
To help protect your files, the Work Folders app:
Keeps your files encrypted
Uses a four-digit passcode
Note that some iPad apps don't support file encryption. If you open a file from Work Folders in another app, it might not stay encrypted. For more info, see How do I open Work Folders files in other apps?
If you enter the wrong passcode five times in a row, the app resets itself to try to keep your work files safe. Your files aren't affected when the app resets, but you'll have to reenter your account info and create a new passcode.
Because some apps don't support file encryption, your workplace might not let you open Work Folders files in other apps. Or they might only allow you to open files in certain apps, such as ones that support Rights Management Service (RMS) encryption.
