Install Java in Windows Internet Explorer 9

To install Java

  1. Open Internet Explorer by clicking the Start button Picture of the Start button. In the search box, type Internet Explorer, and then, in the list of results, click Internet Explorer.

  2. Go to the Java.com website.

  3. Click the Free Java Download button, and then click Agree and Start Free Download. Administrator permission required If you're prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.

  4. On the Notification bar, click Run. Administrator permission required If you're prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.

  5. Click Install.

  6. Click Close.

To uninstall older versions of Java

  1. Open Programs and Features by clicking the Start button Picture of the Start button, clicking Control Panel, clicking Programs, and then clicking Programs and Features.

  2. Select Java from the list, and then click Uninstall. Administrator permission required If you're prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.

  • If more than one version of Java is listed, uninstall the older versions first.
