Install a game in the Games folder

The Games folder is more than just the central repository for all games on your computer. It also offers game updates, statistics, rating information, RSS feeds, and more.

  • Open the Games folder by clicking the Start button Picture of the Start button. In the search box, type games, and then, in the list of results, click Games Explorer.

A game should appear in the folder automatically when you install it. If not, here's how to make it appear.

To add a game to the Games folder

  • Drag the game's executable file to the Games folder.

    You can find the game's executable file in the folder where you installed the game.

If you don't see Minesweeper, Solitaire, or any of the other games that are included with Windows 7, here's how to make them available.

To turn on Windows Games

  1. Click the Start button Picture of the Start button, click Control Panel, click Programs, click Programs and Features, and then click Turn Windows features on or off. Administrator permission required If you're prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.

  2. Select the Games check box, and then click OK.
