Switch between display modes in Windows Media Player

Windows Media Player has four display modes: Player Library, Now Playing, skin , and full screen. You can easily switch to the mode that works best for the content you are viewing or playing.

To switch from the Player Library to Now Playing mode

Now Playing mode has a simpler interface that's optimized for playback.

  • Click the Switch to Now Playing button Picture of the Switch to Now Playing button in the lower-right corner of the Player.

To switch from Now Playing mode to the Player Library

The Player Library provides access to nearly all of the Player features.

  • Click the Switch to Library button Picture of the Switch to Library button in the upper-right corner of the Player.

To switch from the Player Library or Now Playing mode to skin mode

Skin mode allows you to use a customized, alternative view of the Player.

  • Press Ctrl+2 to change the Player to display the most recently selected skin.

To switch from skin mode to the Player Library

The Player Library provides access to nearly all of the Player features.

  • Right-click anywhere in the Player except the menu bar, and then click Switch to Library.

To switch from Now Playing mode to full-screen mode

Full-screen mode makes videos, DVDs, and pictures fill the entire screen when you play them.

  1. View a picture or play a video, TV show, DVD, or song.

  2. Click the View full screen button Picture of the View full screen button in the lower-right corner of the Player, or press Alt+Enter.
