What happens if I turn off media features?

Some programs and features that are included with Windows are turned on by default, including Windows DVD Maker, Windows Media Player, and Windows Media Center. You can turn off all of these media features at once if you don’t use them by clearing the Media Features check box in the Turn Windows features on or off dialog box in Control Panel.

Turning off these media features removes them from Windows, but doesn't reduce the amount of hard disk space used by Windows. They'll remain stored on your hard disk, so you can turn them back on if you want to.
