Movie Moments helps you turn your videos into short movies you’ll love to share. You can trim scenes to keep only your favorite parts, highlight key moments with stylish captions, and add music to set the mood. Then, share the finished movie without leaving the app.

This app is meant for making quick, fun changes to short videos. The final movies are all 60 seconds or less. If you're interested in making more advanced edits or working with longer videos, search the Windows Store on your PC for other video editing apps.

  1. From Start, open the Windows Store. Make sure that you're connected to the Internet and that you're signed in using a Microsoft account.

  2. Enter Movie Moments in the search box in the Store.

  3. Select Movie Moments in the results.

  4. Select Install.

  5. From Start, search for Movie Moments.

  6. Select Movie Moments in the results.

Tip: For a quicker way to open Movie Moments, you can pin it to Start. Instead of selecting Movie Moments in the last step, right-click it. Then select Pin to Start. Now to open it, you can go to Start and select the Movie Moments tile.

  1. From Start, open Movie Moments.

  2. Pick a video or take a new one. If you have videos in your Pictures folder, they'll appear on this page.

  3. You can do any of these things when making your movie:

    • Delete scenes. Move the handles to where you want the movie to start and stop. Finished movies need to be 60 seconds or less.

    • Add captions and a title. Select the Caption button, enter your text, and then select Done. You can select a word or phrase to emphasize it and freeze that frame.

    • Change the style of the title and captions. Select the Caption button, select Styles, and then pick the style for your movie.

    • Add music. Select Music, and then choose a song.

  4. Select Preview. While previewing your movie, you'll see all of the effects and hear the soundtrack.

  5. Do any of the following:

    • Make changes. Select Edit, make the changes, and then preview it again.

    • Save your movie. Select Save. It’s saved in the same folder as the original video.

    • Post or email your movie. Select Share.

    • Start a new movie. Right-click, and then select New movie.

The original video can be up to 20 minutes. A finished movie needs to be between 1 and 60 seconds.

Keep the final movie to 60 seconds or less by removing scenes from the beginning, middle, or end.
