Change your password
If you use a strong password and change it regularly, you can help keep your PC more secure. For more info about strong passwords, see Tips to create strong passwords and passphrases. If you've forgotten your password and need to reset it, see What to do if you forget your Windows password.
The steps that you should follow will vary, depending on whether your PC belongs to a domain a workgroup. To find out, see "To find out if your PC belongs to a workgroup or domain" in Domain, workgroup, or homegroup: what's the difference?
To change your own password

Choose Users.
Under Sign-in options, tap or click Change your password. Follow the instructions, and then tap or click Next.
Follow the instructions, and then tap or click Finish.
Press Ctrl+Alt+Delete and choose Change a password.
Follow the instructions, tap or click Submit, and then tap or click OK.
To change other people's passwords
To change passwords for other user accounts, you'll need an administrator account.

Tap or click Control Panel.
Tap or click User Accounts and Family Safety, tap or click User Accounts, and then tap or click Manage another account.
Tap or click the account you want to change, and then tap or click Change the password. Follow the instructions, and then tap or click Change password.

Choose Users. Under Other users, tap or click Manage domain users.
In the User Accounts dialog box, select the person whose password you want to change, tap or click Reset Password, follow the instructions, and then tap or click OK.
Tap or click OK to close the User Accounts dialog box.
