Listen to radio in Windows Media Center
You can listen to FM radio in Windows Media Center and create presets for your favorite radio stations.
Listening to an FM radio station in Media Center
To listen to FM radio in Media Center, you'll need an FM tuner connected to or installed in your computer, and an antenna connected to the tuner to receive a signal. FM tuners are very similar to TV tuners—in fact, many TV tuner cards have an FM tuner built in.

Click the
Start button

, click
All Programs, and then click
Windows Media Center.

On the Windows Media Center start screen, scroll to Music, click Radio, and then click FM Radio.

To let Media Center find a radio station, under
Seek or
Tune, click the
Plus

or
Minus

button to find available stations. If you know the frequency of the station, enter the numbers on the keyboard or on your Media Center remote control.

While the radio is playing, move the mouse to make the playback controls appear, and then do one of the following:

Click the
Pause
button

to temporarily pause the radio station. When you're ready to resume where you left off, click the
Play button

.

Click the
Skip Backward

button to go back a few seconds, and click the
Skip Forward

button to move ahead.

Click the
Volume Increase button

or the
Volume Decrease button

to increase or decrease the volume, and click the
Mute button

to turn the sound on or off.

Click the
Channel Decrease button

or the
Channel Increase button

to cycle through your presets.

When you're finished listening to radio, move the mouse, and then click the
Stop button

.

On the FM Radio screen, find a radio station that doesn't have a preset already.

Click Save as Preset, enter a name of the radio station, and then click Save.

On the FM Radio screen, click presets.

Right-click the preset you want to edit, click Edit, and then do one of the following:

To change the name of the station, type a new name, and then click Save.

To delete the station, click Delete, and then click Yes.
In addition to FM radio, you can also listen to Internet radio stations. Some Internet radio stations are only available through subscription.

Click the
Start button

, click
All Programs, and then click
Windows Media Center.

On the Windows Media Center start screen, scroll to Extras, and then click Explore.

Click Music + radio to see a list of Internet radio partners that are available.

Click the Internet radio station and then follow the instructions.
